Description

//Hunter//

Name ||
Mick | Hunter

Age ||
24 moons

Gender ||
Male

Breed ||
Maine Coon

Appearance Long Version||
Pelt⊰
Hunter has the traditional Maine Coon fur, long, soft but ruffled enough to stick out in an unruly fashion. The main pelt colour is a dull brown, with a pale dusty mane and stomach, an even lighter stripe speckled onto the front of the mane. There's a dark brown stripe from his eyes to his tail, which fades down his body in speckles. His paws are a duller dark brown which fades towards his belly. There's another reddish brown which speckles his cheeks, and splotches from his shoulder, along his flank and down the sides of his tail. His tail also has a distinguishing chunk ripped from it from a 'fun' incident with a dog while he was a kittypet.
Build⊰
The Maine Coon has quite a thick build, strong muscles hidden under his pelt, though nothing to brag about in comparison to the strongest clan warriors. Most of his size comes from his fur and while he is a tall tom due to his breed, he's still growing because Maine Coons are slow developing cats.
Face⊰
His eyes are deep yellow with an orange centre, a contrasting gleam to his brother's green tinted eyes. His ears are pointed with brown hairs and even in the coldest temperature can stay warm, though it means summer will be hell for the tom with so much fur.

Appearance Short version||
Hunter⊰ A tall, thickly built tom with long, deep brown, ruffled fur, identical to his twin brother apart from his amber ringed eyes.

Condition||
Hunter has Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy which is a heart problem known to be found commonly in Maine Coons. HCM is the name given for when certain muscles in the heart are thickened for no known reason and, of course, puts strain on the heart. It is one of the most commonly known reasons for sudden cardiac arrests at an young age and while Hunter has shown no signs of such severe consequences, he knows there is something wrong due to small symptons he shows during day to day life. These symptoms are:
⊰Shortness of breath [after running or exerting himself]
⊰chest pains
⊰uncomfortable awareness of his heart beat [he pretends not to notice it though]
⊰fatigue
⊰fainting [though very rarely after pushing himself over his limit]
While he pretends to be stoic about these signs, usually lying to stop his brother worrying, he knows they are evidently hinting that he's not the healthiest tom and secretly fears for the day when the pain doesn't pass or he doesn't wake up from a fainting fit.

Accessory||
Hunter has a light but strong chain around his neck, and mostly covered by all his thick fur, given to him by his two-leg owners. On the end of the chain is a small tarnished plate with the name 'Hunter' on it along with a telephone number of his old owners, but no cat can read so it seems like a bunch of interesting scratchings between the rust. While he has tried to get it off in the past, it only made the chain cut his into neck as they tried to tug it off between his fur, so there it remains, though not nearly as shiny or clean as it had been when he had first received it.

//Personality//

Cheerful || Fiercely Protective || Quick witted || Proud || Short tempered || Stubborn || Begrudging

Cheerful || The first thing you'd notice about Hunter would be his general fair mood. He always starts with a grin and is pretty grateful for every good thing that happens to him. The Maine Coon can always joke and chat, and no matter how he's feeling, if you need him to be there with a supportive smile or a word to cheer you up, he'd be the tom to go to. Even when he's being insulting, he says it with a smirk, and takes enjoyment from his own cleverly thought up come backs, even if he's the only one to think so. While being a loner can be pretty tough, he still has his good looks [so he thinks], his life and a loyal brother to depend on, so feels he can face each day with a smile.

Fiercely Protective || If anything were able to take the grin off his face however, not having his brother would be one of them. Coming between this tom and Hayden would be suicidal, especially if Hunter were to deem this thing as a threat to his twin brother. While he can be uncommitted to other cats, he makes it his number one priority to look after and check up on Hayden, never letting him go too far without him or spend too long alone. He can probably seem over endearing to other cats in this sense, but Hunter would refuse to believe it would be wrong of him to look after his brother in this way as it has worked so far. This is why it can be a very easy way to anger the tom if another were to threaten or mention badly of his brother. However this overly protective nature can also have drawbacks for his own brother, because if Hayden were to do anything risky or something behind his twin's back, Hunter would feel at the very least betrayed and more likely furious for having his time wasted caring about someone who 'obviously could look after themselves'.

Quick Witted || Ever alert for his own and brother's safety, it'd be hard to catch this tom off his guard while he's awake. The furry tom can think on his feet, coming up with insults and come backs with little effort if needed, and while he may not be tactically advanced in battle, he can usually spot and use an opportunity to grab an advantage over his opponent if he can.

Proud || Hunter will take great pleasure when he or his brother do well, even if he doesn't give out praise generously, his body language and a simple purr can easily suggest his pride. Most likely it's a trait he inherited from his parents, who, even if he didn't spend long with them, didn't hesitate to boast to their kits about their achievements. Unfortunately this pride is more of a downfall for the brown Maine Coon, as any attempt to tarnish his happiness would seem like a challenge to Hunter, and one he wouldn't back down from unless forced to by his own twin.

Short Tempered || As hinted to previously in his personality, as good natured as the furry cat can seem, it can be easily and quickly spoilt by a variation of reasons. When any of these reasons do present themselves, the happy tom can quickly become irritated before feeling furious and prone to lashing out. He wouldn't even feel above cuffing another cat over the head if it made them shut up or back off. In fact, Hunter would most likely enjoy retaliation more if the other cat were to fight back, as even though the Maine Coon was never taught proper battle skills, he loves venting his anger through violence. However, both he and his brother know this isn't the smartest stress management method, as it could easily lead to the tom over exerting himself to the point of inducing his HCM symptoms.

Stubborn || Hunter doesn't let others push him around and if another cat tries, then he'll quickly push them back with a warning. He never lets himself feel guilt or responsibility until after a fight is over, his mind certain that it has a perfect understanding of what's black and white. The only cat that could convince him otherwise would be Hayden, and even then it would be a struggle depending on the situation or topic. The Maine Coon mostly developed this way of acting due to feeling he needed to be a strong barrier to look after his brother, and that letting anything sway his way of thinking would only make him weaker and unable to protect his brother.

Begrudging || Hunter holds heavy grudges on those who betray or anger him. Fortunately it's easy to lighten this grudge by talking to the fluffy tom, however this is easier said then done when tied with his other personality traits that make him stubborn to his point of view and prone to anger/violence when the other cat doesn't step down. To make up with the Main Coone, you would not only need to apologize for something that might not have been your fault, you'd have to agree that he was right all along and maybe give him something to show you're truly apologetic about this. Obviously, this is a very tall order for more respectable cats, so needless to say Hunter isn't an easy one to make long lasting friends with.

He's also highly curious, and can be quite gentle when needed, his more charming side taking control when around she-cats or apprentices.

//History //
➟ Tabitha and Smokey did not meet by coincidence alone, as they were both pure bred, show worthy Maine Coons whose owners had decided to pair together to produce award winning offspring. At first they saw each other as nothing more then competition once they learned the other was a show cat, but they soon clued onto what their two-legs were trying to set up, and decided to give one another a chance. They quickly learnt they really didn't get on, but their owners felt driven to receive their medal winning litter, so eventually Tabitha and Smokey had a large litter, much to the joy of their two-legs. There were five kittens in total, three she-cats and twin toms who looked almost identical for the first few weeks, none but their mother able to tell the two toms apart, until they finally opened their eyes to show their differentiating eye colours. Tabitha named them Mick and Todd, absolutely adoring all her litter even if she had not been willing at first to have them.

➟ However Tabitha was forced to watch as two of her beloved daughters and her mate Smokey, who even then hadn't earned much respect from her, left with little warning as their owner felt the two she-cats were old enough to live without their mother's support. She was heart broken and clung to her final daughter fiercely, both she-cats trying to cheer the other up in their absence, while the twin toms stuck to each other closer then glue, learning to rely on each other once their mother had focused her final attention on her remaining daughter. Mick and Todd spent more and more time together, needing only the other to enjoy their time and easily grew agitated when separated, fearing that the other would be taken like their sisters if they went out of each others' sight for more then a moment.

➟ The owner of Tabitha hoped to make them all into show worthy cats, yet money was running short for the older two-leg, and knowing he couldn't separate Tabitha from her daughter, he was faced with having to sell the twin toms. While Todd was a healthy specimen for show casing, on a trip to the vets, Mick had been identified with having heart problems in which the symptoms would leave him short of breath and prone to die young of a heart attack as in many cases. He knew it would be cruel to separate them however, so he spent a while trying to find another person who would buy a pair of male pure bred Maine Coons. Eventually he found a family that was looking for a pair of family suitable cats, and with the idea that Maine Coons were meant to be a gentle, well mannered breed, the two-leg was able to sell them.

➟ Mick and Todd didn't take well to being moved into a new house, especially one with a small snappy dog, a child who liked pulling cat tails and mice in tanks which they weren't allowed to hunt. However, like always they stuck side by side, knowing that everything would be all right if they had each other. Eventually they got used to the new house, and even got settled with their new kittypet names Hunter and Hayden, Hunter receiving his new name due to his love of hunting the tank mice, even if it meant he got frequently kicked out of the house. For every moment the two toms stuck to the others' side, if one got punished, the other would follow them, if one was being annoyed by the dog, the other twin would cuff the hound over the head until it learnt its place. The two-leg house they lived in also had a neighbourhood of cats, soft and tough, though the Maine Coon twins were generally left alone due to their size, which gave them a slight arrogance when it came to other cats. Even then however, Hunter was quite the prideful tom, and when any cat or creature pissed him off, he'd usually end up in a fight with them, though it meant he frequently limped home with his brother and horrified his two-leg owners with his latest bite marks and scratches. In one particular incident with a two-leg dog, the amber eyed tom only just escaped with his life as he taunted it till the point it snapped at him and caught his tail in its mighty jaws. While he managed to scramble out of it with the help of his brother, his tail felt sore and a large chunk of his fur had been unceremoniously ripped from it, leaving a quirky kink in the tail's fur.

➟ Other than the occasional incident though, life was all right for the twins. Until the family decided to move. At the sight of the moving boxes, the pair of toms began to feel frantic and scared that they were going to be separated. So, sure that it was the right decision, they escaped the two-leg house and took to the forest in hopes of never being separated by another two-leg.

➟ However neither really realised how hard life was in the wild, until each had lost the warm layer of fat they had collected as kittypets. It took them a while, and a lot of patients with practise, but they eventually learnt to hunt, though nothing to the standards of clan cats. They didn't even learn of the clans until they almost walked into a patrol in the forests, not realising they had walked so far as to reach the nature preservation. They decided to avoid the Clan cats however, both seeing the muscles and strength each warrior carried. However they couldn't help but take advantage of their neighbours, and decided to settle just north of the clans, every once in a while stealing prey from the odd warrior when they were ignorant enough to bury their catches to collect later.

➟ They still live together north of the border, taking care of themselves and watching the clans below with a slight but growing curiosity. Maybe they'll even work up the nerve to talk to them.

//Other//

Belief⊰
He has no idea of what Star Clan is, let alone believe in it, and instead had his own interesting idea of what happens to a cat once they die.
Slight Medical skill⊰
Due to living alone in the wild, the two brothers learnt a little of how to treat minor cuts and injuries, and know how to clean wounds and bind them, even if not with the right herbs.
Nicknames⊰
Hunter hates his old name 'Mick', deciding that 'Hunter' sounds much cooler and mysterious, and if anyone, like his brother, were to call him Mick, he would instantly feeling irritated. On the other hand, if he wants to annoy his brother, he calls Hayden by his nickname 'Todd', knowing he likes it just as much as Hunter likes his own. However he might sometimes also call his twin 'Todd' if he were trying to comfort him or remind him of their long past together, as being called Mick always gives a small dose of nostalgia to the fluffy brown tom.

Charity leaned against one of the larger boulders, not sitting down just yet. As Jensen denied letting her see his skills and attacks, she pretended not to care that she'd missed an opportunity to find out his weaknesses and instead twitched in amusement at his words. “You almost make getting backed into a corner sound tempting.” She laughed lightly, though she couldn't help but wonder why he had said that'd be a lucky situation. Did he mean he'd be lucky to find her in an injured state so easier to arrest.. or that he wanted to show off in front of her? Either idea led to a slightly threatening path of thought, so instead she took the short cut and just nodded as he said she'd be fine by herself.
Why would a soldier want to impress a thief, or even more so help her out of a situation she probably deserved. If she were backed into a corner, it would be because she provoked them. Well most likely. It'd probably hurt her more the day she got saved by a legionary then the day no one stepped in to help at all. Well she imagined it would. She'd got by well enough all this time without anyone, when would a time come where she'd be powerless to not get herself out?
“I'd be more impressed by those who backed me into a corner then whoever saved me next.” She said with a grin, deciding that she was getting tired of standing, so walked over to him. She chose a rock opposite the Legionary with a similar size and sat herself down with a smile. However the bandit watched the tom with interest as he picked up the bleached white stick, curious as to what he was about to do with the gnarled bit of debris.
“What'cha doing Jensen? I don't think a white bit of wood would make a good opponent if you're still planning to show me your sword skills.” The Mokave grinned, deciding to slip off the coil of rope over her shoulder and place it over a spike in the rock, though one end lay close to her paw in the case she needed to retrieve it quickly.
She wasn't used to just sitting down and chatting with another cat, so fiddled with her paws as she watched him, unsure whether this was the best idea. She'd watch cats in the past as they talked about nearly anything with each other for fun. They usually ended up laughing and ignorant to the sly paws that had just removed their Schilling pouches. It didn't look that hard to chat with others, and seemed fun, so why did she feel so awkward.
